More Info:

A young girl is teaching a handclap song to a traveller from distant lands. It begins as it should, rhythms beating, skin on skin, voices in chorus and laughter. What continues from here is an uplifting book of tales, compositions that unfold to reveal thickened plots, quirky characters and great humour, each song illuminating the many facades and colours of the jazz diamond. Green’s stunning arrangements provide a continual shifting of texture and mood.
An evocative work, recorded after Green returned from travels in Europe via Africa, it captures images diverse as train window gazing at the grimy streets of London to stars glistening through the leaves of a baobab tree. This is a theatrical and dynamic ensemble, capable of cheekiness, wild abandon and dark beauty The Singing Fish begins in the heart of West Africa, where the roots of jazz are intertwined with the history of the great land and it’s people.
