| New Year, New Gigs
The 2012 Summer Festival was a blast, with gigs for kids, hipsters, outdoors and indoors, workshops, and we gave away an amazing recording prize to the amazing Alcohotlicks.
Now we're settling in for the regular years programming, over the next few months you can catch Bernie McGann, Daryl Pratt, Brendan Clarke with Craig Scott, Mike Rivett and Mike Nock. Dive in!

Led by indefatigable pianist and composer Judy Bailey, this big band is remarkable as both a hotbed for star soloists of the future, but also a workshop for composition. Their set will again feature all new tunes by the band, penned in this case by Paul Murchison, Louis Gordon, Harry Sutherland, Steven Barry, Dave Groves and Judy herself.

A new voice on the Sydney scene, Briana brings her quintet to Jazzgroove for the very first time. Her compositions weave through the styles of jazz, latin and funk, and are brought to life by a supportive and sensitive backbone of unique musicians.

After a very successful album launch in April, Baz is keen to again play at Jazzgroove. They will perform music from their album Lady from Toulouse, as well as new music they have been working on and could possibly be joined by some secret special guests.

You may remember Ben Panucci from such groups as The Cope Street Parade, The Abel Cross Trio and The Justin Fermino Quintet, to name a few. Here is a chance to hear him doing his own thing. The trio play original music inspired by artists such as Bill Frisell, Bob Dylan, The Bill Charlap Trio and Kurt Rosenwinkel. After some great shows at the Adelaide Fringe the band is keen to debut their music to attentive Sydney ears and feet.

The John Harkins Trio are delighted to be making their Jazzgroove debut. Considered one of the most swinging jazz trios in the land, the trio will be negotiating their way through tunes from the Classic American Songbook and lesser known jazz standards and featuring original arrangements by Chicago born Harkins.

James Ryan formed The Subterraneans in 2008. Over forty performances later, including residencies at the Empire and Town Hall Hotels and interstate festivals here is the much awaited studio recording.
